Are donations to Jothi Educational & Welfare trust tax exempt?
Yes – all donations to Jothi Educational & Welfare trust are 50% exempt from tax under section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Tax exemption is valid only in India.
What Tax exemption benefit do I get?
Donations above Rs 1000 to Jothi Educational & Welfare trust will be eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80G of Income Tax Act. The exemption is calculated by reducing the donated amount from your taxable salary. For instance, if your taxable income for the FY 2022-2023 is Rs 5,00,000 and you make a donation of Rs 50,000 in the same year , your net taxable income will be Rs 4,75,500 and accordingly your final tax will be calculated .Tax benefits on the donations can be availed at the time of filing income-tax returns for the financial year.
What is the minimum amount that needs to be donated to get a tax exemption?
A minimum of Rs 1000 needs to be donated to avail tax exemption under 80G of the Income Tax Act. Only donations in cash are only eligible for tax deductions. Any donations made in-kind such as clothes, food, stationery etc are not tax deduction.
Do you issue Tax receipts? How long does it take for them to reach us? When can I get a tax exemption certificate?
Tax Exemption Certificate will be generated within 7 days from the date of contribution made. Postal process will take 10 days at the maximum for the Tax Exemption Certificate to reach you. Please note that the donations should have been made in the same year in which the deduction is sought.
Are there any tax exemptions on cash donations as well?
Cash donations above Rs.2,000 are not applicable for 80G Tax Exemptions.
Is there any limit for tax exemption on donations?
If the aggregate of sums donated is more than 10% of the adjusted gross income, the excess amount ceases to be entitled for tax benefit.
I am an NRI. Will I get tax exemption on my donation?
NRI (Non-Resident Indian) donors, who are Indian citizens, holding an Indian passport are eligible to tax exemption under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
